Overview

We are hiring for a Junior Project Manager to support our specialist consultants in delivering sustainability strategy projects within Black Sun’s Insight team. This is a great opportunity to join a reputable strategic communications consultancy and work with some of the biggest UK corporations, helping them solve challenges in corporate communications.

The role is well suited for a highly motivated individual with strong communications skills, and an interest in sustainability issues impacting businesses today. The successful candidate must have good writing skills, a keen eye for details, and be driven to manage the processes needed for delivering solutions for our blue-chip client base.

Some of the key responsibilities in this great role include:

 

Project management

  • Support your team with the day-to-day management of projects by preparing and driving project schedules, ensuring that all internal and external deadlines are met;
  • Work closely with our consultants to produce core project documentation that will support the management and delivery of projects (internal project set up, calendar scheduling, meeting notes, budget reports);
  • Successfully liaise and co-ordinate with suppliers (such as copywriters), helping to brief in work and ensuring all external work is submitted in a timely manner;
  • Continually develop your understanding of how to strategic advisory work, developing your knowledge of the internal Black Sun processes, and seeking ways to enhance the current processes and procedures; and
  • Effectively organise meetings and conference calls and maintain orderly filing of all documents and materials held by the team.

 

Commercial responsibility

  • Work closely with our senior project manager to develop your commercial awareness of Black Sun’s job costing and fee structures; and
  • Work closely with our senior project manager to learn how to effectively manage project budgets by implementing all of Black Sun’s quality assurance and financial processes including creating simple budget proposals, completing regular reconciliations, raising purchase orders for external costs and completing accurate timesheets.

 

Research and strategic development

  • Support Black Sun’s thought leadership initiatives by managing internal research projects which will support the development of Black Sun’s market-leading publications;
  • Work closely with senior team members to develop your understanding of and begin to be able to articulate Black Sun’s propositions.

 

Reporting Relationships

Reporting to: Head of Knowledge and Innovation

Work closely with: the Knowledge and Innovation team, Consultants, the Account Management teams

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2:1 degree, preferably in economics, marketing and communications, business or languages;
  • 0-2 years agency or business experience within marketing and communications desired;
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading skills are essential;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential;
  • Exceptional attention to detail; and
  • Be fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • You are a strong communicator, with strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally;
  • You are a project driver, capable of managing upwards even the most senior people internally;
  • You are a strong team player. You have a ‘can do’ attitude with an innate ability to take initiative and work well in a team;
  • You have high work ethic and take pride in your work. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple parallel tasks is a key trait to succeed in this role;
  • You believe in the importance of balancing hard work with fun!

Our new Hybrid way of working
Over the last 12 months, the way in which we work has changed.
