We are a new company for a new era – a stakeholder engagement and communications partner to some of the world’s largest brands and businesses, harnessing the talents of over 100 specialists, change-makers and storytellers across Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

 

We started Black Sun to provide global organizations with a better way to engage with their audiences. Our work directly addresses some of the biggest issues of our time: Purpose and culture, stakeholder engagement, digital transformation, and sustainability communications.

To retain and develop an account you need to constantly add value, as such the creative director must possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a commercial nous – not only bringing passion, flair, and energy to the work – but feeling comfortable proactively pitching and selling in new ideas and initiatives.

This role, which reports to the CEO in Singapore – and has a ‘dotted line’ into the Chief Creative Officer based in London – is a senior client-facing role. You will be based in Singapore. Whilst our team is currently remote, we will be returning to hybrid and in-person work as soon as it is safe to do so.

 

Key responsibilities

Creative leadership

  • Fully understand client business objectives and communication objectives and ensure they are translated creative ideas and meaningful solutions;
  • Effectively pitch concepts and lead all creative meetings and reviews with the client;
  • Be the senior point of contact for clients across the region and build highly effective interpersonal relationships
  • To foster a partnership mentality with clients and not a delivery mentality
  • Be the ultimate custodian of all creative output, successfully ensuring that the integrity and high quality of our creative work is maintained from conception through to
  • Attend and represent the team at important external and internal meetings, including senior management status meetings, briefing sessions, project
  • Work closely with account leads and insights team to develop world-class communication strategies &

 

Team management and development

  • Effective management of the design team resource and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of work, identifying improvements to ways of working where
  • Be responsible for the development of designers within your team, including the setting of personal objectives and performance

 

Commercial responsibility

  • Work collaboratively with the CEO in Asia Pacific in meeting the financial targets of the business;
  • Provide monthly updates to the Board on key responsibilities;
  • Be commercially responsible for all projects, working with the account management team to ensure the profitable delivery of all client projects;
  • Implement all required financial processes and

 

Project delivery

  • Supervise and manage the design and production process on and off-site, and attend press passes/printing for all projects, ensuring high-quality outputs;
  • Ensure that all internal review, approval and quality assurance process are adhered to;
  • Embrace new technology-based design opportunities, which will improve design excellence, enhance skills, increase productivity and reduce costs.

 

Supplier management

  • Continuously review new suppliers to evolve Black Sun’s database of approved suppliers and develop strong relationships with all preferred suppliers;
  • Negotiate effectively with suppliers ensuring the most cost-effective and highest quality products and services;
  • Effectively brief all work requirements and ensure that all work meets Black Sun’s quality

 

Reporting Relationships

  • The Creative Director will report directly to the CEO in Singapore, as well as have a dotted line to the Chief Creative Officer in the
  • The Creative Director will also work closely with the wider Singapore team as well as the Creative, Digital and Research & Strategy teams in the

 

Qualifications, Experience & Professional skills

  • Design degree level qualification from a reputable University or College of Art;
  • Minimum of eight years’ agency experience, leading key accounts in Annual Reports, Corporate Branding and Digital Corporate Solutions;
  • Broad and deep knowledge in graphic design, publishing and digital;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly literate with a good understanding of how language is used to communicate to different
  • Commitment to delivering first-class work and never leaving a quality issue unchecked
  • Commercially savvy: - selling value, negotiation, client/vendor relationship management skills.
